All Freshman Seminar Abroad programs are open to students of any major. Also, the programs do not require previous language experience; however, language background is strongly recommended for the Mexico program.
Even though programs are open to students of any major, experience indicates that successful students have an interest in the content and/or host culture. In other words, MSU encourages students to select programs that are interesting to them for academic and/or cultural reasons, not for tourism.
The chart available here provides guidance as to how the individual tracks' foci relate to disciplinary areas on campus and identifies majors and specializations on campus that will use the UGS 102 credit toward a curricular requirement. Please note that all programs will include information about the host country's culture and language, but the tracks include that subject as the primary course emphasis.
Again, this chart is for guidance only. If you have questions about the relevance of a track to your interests or would like to talk about the academic nature of the program more, please contact Jim Lucas at 517-355-0171.
